Disruptor Beam, a Boston-based game developer, built the HTML5 social game Game of Thrones Ascent and faced the challenge of delivering console-quality, high-resolution art and complex gameplay to millions of users instantly. With viral growth expected and tight economics, the team needed lightning-fast time-to-interaction, smooth image loads for images much larger than typical casual games, and industry‑leading retention at a reasonable cost.
