DataCloud, a provider of cloud-based prescriptive analytics for the energy sector, needed a way to process high-volume oil and gas well data in real time. Its existing WITSML-based data access was too slow for deep analytics, with some wells taking hours each to retrieve, making large-scale analysis across 200+ wells impractical. DataCloud turned to Instaclustr for managed Apache Cassandra® and Apache Spark™ support to help meet the performance demands of streaming, time-based analytics.

Instaclustr helped DataCloud build a solution that moved drilling data into Apache Cassandra® for fast writes and real-time access, while Apache Spark™ powered more advanced analytics and machine learning tasks. The result was a scalable platform for Drillytics and Drillmetrics that could validate, standardize, analyze, and visualize drilling data in real time, while also supporting historical re-analysis and complex reporting. This enabled DataCloud to improve drilling safety, reduce production costs, and handle many thousands of writes per second.
