The University of Gothenburg, one of Scandinavia’s largest universities, launched a digital exam project to replace paper-based on-site exams with a single common solution. Working with Inspera and its Inspera Assessment platform, the university wanted to reduce administrative workload, enable more flexible grading, and improve the student exam experience.

Inspera supported a BYOD-based digital exam setup with dedicated exam facilities, extra Wi‑Fi, backup devices, and training for staff, all rolled out gradually on a voluntary basis. The results were strong: by 2019, more than 65% of exams were conducted digitally, with 21,717 digital submissions in 2018 and double that in autumn 2019, while some exams saved 4–6 hours of administration time.
