Mobile service provider cuts budget reporting process using automated features of Wands

MTN Congo, a leading mobile service provider in Congo Brazzaville with more than 1 million subscribers, struggled to extract and format financial and operational data from its Oracle E-Business Suite. Their Corporate Performance Management team spent two full days and nights every month manipulating exports in Excel, and budget variance reporting took three to four days—an error-prone, time-consuming process. On the recommendation of their Oracle consultant, MTN Congo implemented insightsoftware’s Wands (GL Wand, Budget Wand, Reports Wand).

Using insightsoftware’s Wands, MTN Congo automated data extraction, template building and budget loading, cutting monthly reporting from roughly two full days to a single day (they now start at 7:00 am and finish by about 4:00 pm) and reducing budget variance reporting from three–four days to one day. The team eliminated the need for an external consultant by loading budgets in-house with Budget Wand, improved data accuracy and controls with GL Wand, and achieved measurable time and cost savings alongside a better work/life balance.
