A insightsoftware Case Study
California Olive Ranch, a U.S. consumer brand in agriculture, needed a better way to manage retail trade planning and forecasting. Using Microsoft Navision as its ERP and Microsoft Power BI in-house, the company struggled with incomplete trade spending records, disconnected forecasting, too many spreadsheets, and a lack of a single source of truth. These issues made budgeting difficult, created excess inventory, and put heavy overtime strain on the small IT team.
To solve this, insightsoftware implemented Power ON to extend Microsoft Power BI with easy data entry, commentary, and write-back capabilities. The new process let sales and finance enter and update forecasts directly, improving collaboration and giving the business real-time visibility into detailed plans and budget vs. actuals. California Olive Ranch reported 3–4 days saved per month on reporting, forecasting moved from annual to quarterly, and IT workload dropped from working every weekend to about one weekend a month.
