Global Insurance Company, a global insurance provider, needed to modernize its field site-visit process. Its agents were using paper forms to collect notes during client visits, then rekeying information later to create reports, which wasted time, increased the risk of data loss, and limited the number of customers each agent could support. To solve this, the company worked with Insight, through BlueMetal, to build a Windows 8 tablet application for field enablement and on-site data capture.
Insight delivered a tablet-based solution that let agents collect information in real time, access resources normally kept on their laptops, and then seamlessly transition the same device from mobile use to office docking. The app used native Windows 8 and tablet features such as camera, GPS, cellular connectivity, touch, and stylus input, and was designed with a simple consumer-like interface. The result was improved data quality, significantly faster report creation, higher adoption, lower total cost of ownership, and an estimated efficiency gain of up to 75,000 hours across 1,000 field personnel.
