Royal Caribbean International partnered with Insight to tackle the complex IT demands of building and operating some of the world’s largest cruise ships. The cruise line needed a way to procure, configure, test, integrate, and stage thousands of onboard devices and systems—such as networking, cabin switches, servers, VoIP phones, reservations, and point-of-sale technology—within a very tight shipyard timeline before each launch.

Insight created a dedicated Newbuild Configuration Center in Chicago to mirror ship conditions on land, supported by high-speed connectivity to Miami, and handled advanced integration, deployment, testing, and ongoing tech refreshes. The result was a highly repeatable process that helped Royal Caribbean launch seven ships, configure and deploy more than 22,300 devices, improve cabin switch configuration time by 95%, and cut ship-to-center travel time and expenses by up to 63%.
