Case Study: Johnson Memorial Hospital improves reliability and cuts costs with HPE solutions

A Insight Case Study

Johnson Memorial Hospital re-architects IT infrastructure

Johnson Memorial Hospital, a healthcare provider in Franklin, Indiana, needed to overhaul an aging, siloed IT environment that couldn’t adequately support critical MEDITECH applications, disaster recovery, or healthcare compliance requirements like HIPAA and HITECH. Working with vendor HPE and integration partner Park Place International, the hospital planned a complete re-architecture of its data center infrastructure, including a twin data center design and a move toward converged storage and virtualization.

HPE implemented an environment built on HPE 3PAR StoreServ F400 storage, HPE StoreOnce backup, HPE ProLiant servers, and VMware virtualization, with critical application transitions coordinated by HPE and Park Place International. The results included stronger reliability, improved disaster recovery, zero downtime complaints, faster performance, and better storage efficiency, with one major application seeing a $50,000 annual drop in support charges and radiology storage reduced from 40 TB to 30 TB.
