A Insight Case Study
Global Healthcare Products Company, a global healthcare products leader and medical devices manufacturer, needed to modernize its sales enablement app and broader mobility strategy. Its existing iPad-based sales application supported a library of product specs, videos, pricing, and other content for more than 500 medical supply sales users, but it was difficult and costly to support and could not sync content asynchronously, leaving reps unable to use the device during syncs that could take more than 30 minutes.
Insight, through its BlueMetal division, built a Windows 8.1 sales enablement app using Xamarin, C#, and XAML that preserved the existing REST APIs and content structure while delivering a modern, touch-first UI. The solution enabled asynchronous syncing, a single code base across Windows and iOS, and deployment flexibility through the Windows Store or side-loading. The prototype proved a Windows 8.1 version was highly feasible and showed that moving to Windows Surface devices could improve user experience, reduce total cost of ownership, and strengthen security.
