Fractyl’s Revita Application Transforms Type 2 Diabetes Treatment

Fractyl, a medical technology company, needed to adapt its experimental Revita procedure for clinical trials in a surgical setting. The challenge was to move from a prototype to a production-quality, touch-screen Windows application that could be used in sterile operating rooms by surgeons wearing latex gloves, while still controlling the device’s firmware reliably and without needing an on-site engineering technician. Fractyl partnered with Insight, through its BlueMetal division, to help make that happen.

Insight’s BlueMetal team developed a new version of the Revita Windows application on the Windows Presentation Foundation, integrating it with Fractyl’s existing Modbus-based firmware and command bus. The result was a touch-screen interface that let surgical clinicians manage the full procedure themselves, improving usability for clinical trials in South America and Europe. This helped Fractyl move closer to a scalable treatment that could potentially impact hundreds of millions of people living with Type 2 diabetes.
