Fire Department Uses Real-Time Data to Improve Emergency Services

Major Metropolitan Fire Department worked with Insight to modernize its aging Oracle database and improve real-time and long-term reporting. The department needed a more scalable cloud-based data platform to handle hundreds of millions of records from emergency calls, first responders, and GPS-tracked equipment while supporting faster, more reliable decision-making.

Insight implemented a modern data architecture using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure SQL, SSAS, and Power BI, along with Azure Event Hubs for streaming data. The new real-time dashboard gave the department a unified view of incidents, personnel, and equipment, improved staging of 15,000 vehicles and assets, reduced emergency response times, and enabled the IT team to manage the system in house with a foundation for future predictive analytics.
