A Insight Case Study
American Clothing Brand Company, a pair of American apparel brands owned by a private equity firm, needed to consolidate operations by moving one brand’s aging data center from Chicago to Southern California. With only a 48-hour window and the equipment needing to be flown cross-country, the company turned to Insight for consulting and strategic support, network assessment and architecture, and data center consolidation services.
Insight created a detailed migration plan, recommended chartering a plane to reduce risk, and helped the customer reorganize cabling and racks before the move. Despite weather delays and power outages, Insight coordinated the relocation of nearly 150 pieces of equipment carrying 80–90 terabytes of data and brought the system back online by the deadline, reducing downtime and helping the customer save millions annually in rent by consolidating the data center.
