Residential Earthquake Insurance Company Deploys Inrule to Reduce Developer Workload

Residential Earthquake Insurance Company is a leading provider of stand-alone residential earthquake policies in California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as residential windstorm-hurricane policies in Hawaii. The company struggled with hard-coded business logic that was difficult and time-consuming to update, while business users had to depend on developers to maintain rules and interpret ambiguous requirements documents. To address this, it turned to InRule for rule authoring and business logic management.

With InRule, Residential Earthquake Insurance Company implemented a rule engine to validate data integrity and eligibility in its production quoting and rating systems, and also used it as a documentation tool for underwriting and analytics teams. InRule’s irSOA web services and irCatalog integrated easily with the company’s .NET and C# systems, improving transparency, reducing ambiguity, and lowering developer workload. Over time, the company expanded use of InRule to real-time validation on its web quoting site, further separating business rules from UI code.
