Aon Uses Inrule® to Reduce Development Costs

Aon, one of the world’s leading providers of risk management and specialty insurance underwriting, needed a way to reduce the development and maintenance costs of its custom policy management system. To support the unique requirements of different industries, Aon built WinBroker II, a .NET application for accounting, policy management, underwriting, rating, and claims, and used InRule to manage its core decision logic.

Using InRule, Aon enabled business users and actuaries to author, verify, and maintain complex rules for rating, underwriting, and policy form selection with far less effort than traditional coding. Aon reported faster development, easier maintenance, minimal-risk rule updates, dynamic UI rendering, and strong production performance; in one example, logic that took an experienced programmer 120–160 hours to build was completed and tested by an actuary in just 14 hours.
