American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Modernizes Member Portal

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals, needed a better way to manage its member portal. Its educational and certification content was becoming harder to personalize as member roles, certifications, and purchase histories changed, while the portal’s hard-coded business logic made updates slow and created a growing IT backlog. ASCP turned to InRule’s business rules management system (BRMS) to help modernize the experience.

InRule integrated with ASCP’s custom .NET content management application, enabling the team to author, test, and deploy rules without code. The results were dramatic: changes that once took the IT staff at least two weeks could be made and tested in about five minutes by just two users, and ASCP now runs more than 100 rules supporting permissions, certifications, and product displays for thousands of daily users. InRule also helped ASCP improve scalability, support future role-based expansion, and lay the groundwork for revenue-generating promotions and campaigns.
