Allscripts handles 1 million daily transactions with InRule

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a leading medical technology provider, faced a challenge with its back-office data processing application. The system relied on difficult-to-maintain ASP scripts, custom code, and BizTalk, which could not interact with multiple databases or enrich data at the required business rate. Allscripts initiated a modernization project to allow non-technical users to author business rules and required a cloud-based, interoperable solution.

Using the InRule decision platform, Allscripts built a new cloud-based application called the Hub. InRule provided the framework for business users to write and manage rules for data validation and enrichment, eliminating the need for the previous scripts. The solution now processes about one million transactions daily, sends approximately 70 messages per second, and executes rules in about 1000 milliseconds. This has resulted in a faster system that operates with less IT support.
