United Kingdom’s Highways Agency Update Their Real-time Roadway Management System Using INRIX Technologies and Services

The UK Highways Agency, which manages England’s 4,300-mile road network, needed to replace the National Traffic Control Centre’s traffic data processing and publication systems with a more efficient, integrated solution. Working with INRIX, the agency aimed to improve real-time roadway management and communication for the millions of motorists using the network each day.

INRIX provided the Highways Agency with data-as-a-service, including real-time traffic feeds, the INRIX Fusion platform, custom APIs, and integration with fixed loop infrastructure (MIDAS). With INRIX, the agency gained a real-time national view of traffic conditions, could assess events and traffic flows more effectively, execute responses such as dynamic diversion signing, publish updates to Traffic England and other websites, and share live information with broadcast media, improving overall strategic road network performance.
