Pennsylvania Goes “Statewide” with the Largest Deployment of INRIX XD Real-Time Traffic Flow

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) needed consistent, high-quality, real-time, and cost-effective speed and travel time data across a diverse mix of rural and urban roadways. Working with INRIX, PennDOT sought better visibility into its statewide network to support incident detection, bridge and tunnel management, and travel information services.

INRIX expanded PennDOT’s coverage with INRIX XD Real-Time Traffic Flow across the entire state, along with real-time map tiles, monitoring tools, and performance data services. The deployment increased visibility by 50% over traditional TMC coverage, gave PennDOT more than 40,000 miles of statewide real-time coverage, improved incident detection with 100-meter precision, and enhanced 511PA, dynamic message signs, and statewide performance reporting.
