Case Study: City of Copenhagen achieves carbon-neutral mobility goals with INRIX

A INRIX Case Study

Preview of the City of Copenhagen Case Study

How INRIX is helping Copenhagen realize its goal to become carbon neutral by 2025

Copenhagen, the City of Copenhagen, set an ambitious goal to become the world’s first carbon neutral capital by 2025. To support this challenge, the city needed better transportation data to reduce congestion and emissions while prioritizing low-carbon travel such as biking, transit, and walking. INRIX provided real-time traffic intelligence and Floating Car Data to help inform its smart mobility and intelligent transportation systems strategy.

INRIX helped the City of Copenhagen optimize key initiatives including eco-driving, variable message signs, traffic signal optimization, and the MobiMaestro traffic management platform. Using INRIX data, the city could benchmark performance, test models, and improve corridor management for cars, buses, cyclists, and pedestrians. The impact has been significant: Copenhagen reports just 7.5 minutes spent in traffic per day on average, improved journey times in 85% of targeted corridors, and the potential to clear Parken Stadium congestion in about 15 minutes.
