Case Study: Transitive achieves realistic, automated cross-platform test data generation with Innovative Routines International (IRI)'s RowGen

RowGen Creates and Transforms Test Data for Transitive

Transitive, a provider of QuickTransit application-transport technology, needed realistic, large-scale test data to validate and automate functional and performance testing across a heterogeneous farm (SPARC, x86, IBM POWER, Solaris, Linux). To meet this need they selected Innovative Routines International (IRI)’s CoSort Test Data product, RowGen, to synthesize production-like datasets and drive fully automated workloads that exercise their translator across many platforms.

IRI’s RowGen generated and transformed test data in a single job/I/O pass, producing consistent, large random datasets and formatted outputs (CSV, XML, ISAM, etc.) while preserving keys and relationships. Using RowGen, Transitive achieved repeatable subject‑native and target‑native functional and performance comparisons, automated batch execution of diverse workloads, and a strong stress test of QuickTransit’s multithreading, memory and I/O behavior—backed by prompt IRI support.
