The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) started a modernization process by moving its IT services to the cloud

The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) initiated a modernization process to move its IT services to the cloud. The university’s challenge was to find a secure, flexible, and scalable solution that would free up valuable in-house IT capacity, allow for the closure of an on-campus data center, and support the dynamic needs of its users for analysis and data collection. To address this, they partnered with vendor Innofactor and implemented their Virtual Data Center solution.

Innofactor's Virtual Data Center, built on Microsoft Azure, provided UiT with a secure and flexible cloud platform. The solution included a naming standard for better resource management and offered automatic scalability, allowing services to be scaled up during the day and down at night. The implementation, guided by the Microsoft Cloud Adaptation Framework, resulted in significant savings of in-house work capacity. UiT also anticipates major cost savings from the increased dynamism and elasticity of their new services.
