A Innofactor Case Study

Preview of the Svitzer Case Study

Microsoft Azure facilities fast development and global rollout of Svitzer’s TugApp

Svitzer, a global tugboat company within the A.P. Møller-Maersk Group, needed a solution to simplify the complex process of logging tugboat job details for its crews. Manually entering data after a job was time-consuming and prone to error, which also affected the accuracy of customer billing. To address this challenge, they partnered with vendor Innofactor and chose to use the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Innofactor developed the TugApp using Microsoft Azure Mobile Apps, which cut development time to a third of the traditional method and significantly reduced costs. The app allows crews to log job details in real-time via a tablet, ensuring accurate data for billing and enabling process review. The success of this solution led Svitzer to base several other key elements of its infrastructure on Azure, beginning a broader strategic relationship with the platform.
