SkalHuset, an online retailer of mobile phone and computer accessories, wanted to improve delivery economics in Norway after seeing lower-than-expected AOV and shipping costs that hurt margins. After successfully testing a free shipping threshold in Sweden, the company looked to Ingrid and its Delivery Checkout A/B Testing product to determine the best delivery pricing strategy for the Norwegian market.
Using Ingrid Checkout A/B Testing, SkalHuset ran a multi-variant experiment with free shipping on all orders, orders over 400 NOK, and orders over 500 NOK, while promoting the threshold earlier in the shopping journey. The 400 NOK threshold performed best, lifting AOV by 12%, conversion by 2%, and total revenue by 7%, even though shipping revenue fell by about 20%; the 500 NOK threshold reduced conversion by nearly 1%.
