Biometric solution to 197,045 farmers in Zambia

Paycode worked with the Zambian government and Ingenico Group to help distribute agricultural subsidies to farmers in rural Zambia through the FISP program. The challenge was to deliver funds in remote areas with little banking infrastructure while preventing fraud and duplicate registrations for 197,045 eligible farmers.

Ingenico Group provided 450 biometric smart POS terminals, while Paycode Zambia developed the payment software and wallet solution. Farmers were enrolled using fingerprint authentication and a secure closed-loop system, which helped cut fraud and bring financial services to the unbanked. Within three months, the program had registered up to 80% of eligible farmers and had वितtributed $27.2 million in subsidies.
