Compound Labs - Customer Case Study

Compound Labs, the team behind the Compound decentralized borrowing protocol, needed a more reliable and efficient way to handle Ethereum infrastructure as DeFi usage grew. Running its own Geth and Parity nodes in Kubernetes consumed significant memory, bandwidth, disk IO, and DevOps time, while also requiring constant upgrades to stay compatible with network hard forks. To reduce this operational burden, Compound Labs turned to Infura and its Ethereum API.

Using Infura’s Ethereum APIs, Compound Labs offloaded node management, unified blockchain requests, and improved how its interface and backend access protocol and account data. The team reads directly from Infura for user-facing data, powers its API by querying event logs through Infura, and even uses a view contract to bundle many balance checks into a single Web3 call, cutting round-trips and simplifying data retrieval. As a result, Compound Labs improved infrastructure efficiency and stayed resilient during historic spikes in network activity, while Infura helped them maintain high availability for users.
