American Electric Power boosts field access for 5.4 million customers with Infragistics SharePlus

American Electric Power, one of the largest electric utilities in the US, faced the challenge of its underutilized SharePoint site being inaccessible to field technicians and ineffective as a communications tool. Their previous site was only used by about 50 people and was restricted to company laptops. AEP needed a solution to empower its mobile teams by providing easy access to information and the ability to work offline in remote locations. They turned to Infragistics and its product SharePlus to address this.

Infragistics implemented its SharePlus mobile collaboration solution, which integrated AEP's on-premise and cloud-based content into a single, seamless experience accessible from smart devices. The solution provided offline capabilities, data visualization, and tools for sharing pictures and video. As a result, the mobile SharePoint site now attracts over 400 daily visitors and has become a vital communications and resource tool, allowing field technicians to retrieve information instantly and collaborate effectively to solve issues.
