Case Study: Tullow Oil achieves improved application performance, cost control and hybrid network unification with InfoVista's Application‑Aware SD‑WAN

A Infovista Case Study

Preview of the Tullow Oil Case Study

With infoVista Tullow Oil understands exactly what’s running

Tullow Oil, a London‑headquartered oil and gas exploration and production company operating in 21 countries, needed better visibility into what applications were running on its WAN and a way to guarantee performance for time‑sensitive apps like Citrix and VoIP without resorting to costly bandwidth upgrades. Tullow selected Infovista for its Application Aware SD‑WAN capabilities (including Hybrid Network Unification) to align network resources with business objectives across MPLS and internet VPN links.

Infovista deployed its Application Aware SD‑WAN as a managed service (via partner Intergence Systems), unifying MPLS and Internet VPN traffic, enforcing application objectives, and automating failover and prioritization. The result was clear visibility and cost control: VoIP MOS improved from 2.8 to 3.9 and average call length rose from under 5 minutes to 30 minutes, Phoenix (Livelink) traffic dropped by 78%, 90% of traffic was identified as internet‑based for better planning, and Tullow avoided unnecessary bandwidth upgrades while delivering more predictable application performance.
