Case Study: Viridor achieves reliable application performance and WAN visibility at remote sites with Infovista (Ipanema)

A Infovista Case Study

Preview of the Viridor Case Study

Viridor improves application performance even at their remote locations

Viridor, a FTSE 250 recycling, renewable energy and waste management company with 3,000+ employees across ~150 sites, faced costly bandwidth constraints at many remote locations and poor visibility into application performance. Critical systems such as a Weighbridge RDP application and ERP were regularly disrupted when limited links were saturated by meetings or software synchronizations. To address prioritization and optimization needs, Viridor selected Infovista’s Ipanema solution (deployed and managed as part of Cable&Wireless Worldwide’s APM service).

Infovista’s Ipanema was implemented with ip|engines at the Taunton data centre and tele|engines at remote sites, embedding application optimization into primary and redundant links and enabling WAN governance. As a result, Viridor gained clear, monthly application performance reporting, the ability to prioritize business‑critical applications and identify bottlenecks, and the capability to roll out software (e.g., Office 2010) over very low‑bandwidth links (128k–256k) without disrupting essential services. Infovista’s solution thereby ensured consistent application performance, reduced operational disruption (such as manual vehicle weighing), and improved visibility and control across the network.
