InfoVista’s Performance Insight Reduces OPEX and CAPEX of State-of-the-art IP Backhaul Network

Ooredoo Tunisia, the country’s leading mobile operator with over 6 million subscribers, faced the challenge of rapidly transforming its network to a full packet-based IP/MPLS backhaul to support 3G and fixed-line services while keeping costs and service disruptions to a minimum. To gain the visibility and assurance needed for the fastest, most reliable and cost‑effective rollout, Ooredoo Tunisia trialed and selected Infovista’s platform, deploying VistaInsight for Networks along with VistaLink and the VL‑SAM module to consolidate multi-vendor performance data and validate SLAs.

Infovista’s solution provided end-to-end delay, throughput and utilization dashboards, forecast-driven alerting and northbound integration with Ooredoo Tunisia’s NOC, enabling proactive fault detection and vendor validation. The deployment prevented a service disruption by spotting high packet loss, ensured Abis-over-IP latency targets (<15 ms), and proved costly infrastructure upgrades unnecessary — e.g., showing a claimed 12→30 Mbps backhaul upgrade wasn’t required because actual load was ~9 Mbps across >1,500 BTS–BSC links — delivering measurable CAPEX and OPEX savings and faster time-to-market.
