Grifols switches to SD-WAN with Ipanema

Grifols, a major Spanish healthcare and plasma-products group with ~17,000 employees and more than 180 U.S. donation centers, faced bandwidth and availability challenges as it moved critical, video‑heavy cloud applications into production. With donor data confidentiality and the in‑center experience (donors spend ~90 minutes and the group handles ~26,500 donations/day) at stake, Grifols turned to Infovista and its Ipanema solution to support Wi‑Fi rollout, digitize processes, and ensure near‑100% application availability.

Infovista deployed Ipanema as an Application‑Aware SD‑WAN in a hybrid MPLS/Internet architecture (pilot and initial rollout across 12 Spanish sites with British Telecom, with U.S. and global migration underway), providing real‑time, dynamic orchestration of application flows and integrated monitoring. The Infovista solution improved QoS for critical apps, increased network reliability and operational visibility, optimized bandwidth to reduce telecom costs, and supports Grifols’ target to eliminate some 75% of monthly network incidents while enabling faster cloud migration and future NFV adoption.
