Banca Popolare di Sondrio enhances application performance and management with Infovista Hybrid SD-WAN

Banca Popolare di Sondrio, a historic Italian bank with roughly 500 branches and 2,700 employees, faced growing application performance and WAN management challenges as it expanded digital services over an MPLS backbone. The IT team struggled with fragmented tools, limited end-to-end visibility, and the need to prioritise time‑sensitive traffic and simplify capacity planning, so the bank evaluated vendors and selected Infovista to address these issues.

Infovista deployed its Hybrid SD‑WAN using tele|engine software agents (running on ip|engines in the bank’s six data centres) and built‑in WAN optimisation to deliver full application visibility and control without installing new hardware at each branch. The Infovista solution—now live across the majority of the ~500 sites for over two years—improved application performance and reliability, streamlined troubleshooting and SLA management, enabled dynamic WAN selection and granular alerts, and reduced transmitted data to effectively increase virtual bandwidth.
