Protecting personal information is vital in Johnson County Government

Johnson County Government, which serves more than 600,000 residents with 4,000+ employees, faced the challenge of protecting citizens’ personal information by building an effective, non-punitive security awareness culture. To modernize training and increase engagement, Johnson County Government partnered with Infosec and rolled out the Infosec IQ platform in 2019.

Using Infosec IQ modules on phishing, social engineering, passwords, safe browsing and malware—plus humor-based WORKed videos, themed events like “Phish Week,” security champions, and gamified incentives—the county shifted to empowering training (replacing a final test with a 10-question survey). The Infosec program delivered measurable results: an 87% learner satisfaction rate in year one and the 2019 Infosec Inspire Impact Award, demonstrating stronger employee engagement and improved security awareness across the organization.
