School District Improves Communications and Security

Elmore County Public School District in Wetumpka, Alabama, needed to modernize communications across 15 schools while working within a tight technology budget. The district was struggling with disparate, outdated systems for phones, video, alarms, and intercoms, which made maintenance difficult and limited communication for teachers, staff, and parents. Information Transport Solutions (ITS) partnered with the district to plan a more unified approach, centered on Cisco Unified Communications.

Information Transport Solutions (ITS) implemented a converged voice, data, and video network using Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified IP Phones, Cisco Unity unified messaging, wireless IP phones, security tools, and upgraded routing/switching infrastructure. ITS also modernized video security with IP-based cameras and remote viewing capabilities. The result was faster, more reliable communication, stronger campus safety and security, and voicemail access for more than 1,200 employees, while an independent ROI study found the solution saved the district more than US$275,000 per year.
