Port Arthur, Texas Fire Department - Customer Case Study

The Port Arthur, Texas Fire Department turned to Information Transport Solutions and TANDBERG after Hurricane Rita severely damaged its Sabine Pass station, disrupting operations and leaving the community short on critical emergency services. The department needed a way to improve training, maintain communications during disasters, and coordinate more effectively with other public safety agencies, all in a rugged first-responder environment.

Information Transport Solutions and TANDBERG implemented a video communications solution that included Site Commander units, TANDBERG 150 MXP desktop systems, a Border Controller, a Gatekeeper, and a Tactical MXP Command Center for mobile field communications via satellite. The result was better distance learning, stronger disaster readiness, improved mutual-aid coordination, and faster emergency response, including the ability to transmit thermal imaging as live video to help save lives and property.
