WESCO Standardizes WebFOCUS, iWay Create Self-Service Support Environment

WESCO International, a $3.7B global distributor with 350 warehouses and more than 130,000 customers, struggled with a highly decentralized information architecture, aging BI systems, slow and costly report preparation, and low user adoption. The company needed an enterprise business intelligence solution to consolidate dispersed data, centralize decision-making, simplify analytics, and provide web-based self-service reporting without per-user licensing barriers.

WESCO implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS with iWay integration and consulting, alongside a Teradata data warehouse, to create a browser-based, self-service reporting portal that combines historical and real-time data from Oracle, Teradata, and SQL Server. Reports that once took months to build were recreated in weeks, adoption grew to about 2,000 users, cube preparation was eliminated, turnaround time for reports dropped dramatically, and improved visibility and analytics helped identify supplier and claims issues that saved an estimated $3–5 million.
