WebFOCUS Supports EOS Management Methodology at Leading Paper Merchant

Case Paper, a North American paper converter and merchant serving the printing and packaging industry with more than 75,000 tons of inventory across 1.25 million sq. ft., struggled to extract usable data from IBM System i (DB2) and other sources. Reliant on manual Excel processes, the company could not deliver the high-level views required by its EOS management methodology, creating long report cycles, heavy programmer workload, and slow decision-making.

Working with BDK, Case Paper deployed Information Builders’ WebFOCUS platform and InfoApps (with InfoAssist, ReportCaster and iWay tools) to link IBM System i data via the WebFOCUS Reporting Server and deliver interactive KPI apps, scheduled reports and automated distribution. The change cut budgeting from four–five days to a few hours, replaced hundreds of manual reports with single InfoApps (sales apps replaced 20 ranking and 26 trending reports), and improved productivity, inventory control and the company’s ability to respond quickly to market changes.
