WebFOCUS Shifts the BI Paradigm at World Wide Technology

World Wide Technology (WWT), a St. Louis–based value‑added reseller and systems integrator that moves billions in IT equipment for vendors like Dell, HP and Cisco, faced a BI bottleneck: legacy Oracle tools and a proliferation of hand‑coded, one‑off reports left IT supporting over 1,000 dashboards and analysts spending days compiling data instead of analyzing it. Leadership wanted a scalable, self‑service reporting environment that would let business users build, schedule, and distribute their own reports while the BI team focused on organizing the data.

WWT standardized on Information Builders’ WebFOCUS with Active Technology dashboards, training developers and deploying the platform on its existing virtual servers. The change enabled guided ad‑hoc and portable HTML reports, consolidated hundreds of bespoke reports into reusable applications, and cut manual effort—saving about eight hours per week per analyst for the 10–15‑person financial reporting team. The result: faster invoice payments, lower inventory carrying costs, improved financial visibility, and a more competitive, customer‑facing reporting capability for supply‑chain partners.
