WebFOCUS Makes the Grade With Award-Winning Reporting Portal

Information Builders partnered with the Minnesota Department of Education to transform a largely compliance‑focused data operation into a longitudinal analytics platform for roughly 2,000 schools and 350 districts. The DoE needed to move beyond static, yearly snapshots to provide educators, parents and administrators with timely insight into student progress, enrollment trends, funding formulas and dropout prevention so districts could make better, data‑driven decisions.

Using WebFOCUS (Developer Studio and WebFOCUS Enable for Adobe Flex), plus professional services and training, Information Builders delivered an interactive public and secure reporting portal with drill‑down charts, dashboards and single sign‑on access to student‑level data. The result: standardized reporting, faster analysis, measurable improvements in tracking enrollment and dropouts, streamlined programs, and recognition as Computerworld’s 2012 Best in Class for BI.
