Sligro Food Group, a Dutch food and beverage retailer with 130 supermarkets, 45 cash-and-carry stores and 10,000 employees, was sitting on rich loyalty and transaction data stored in a homegrown AS/400 ERP but could not extract consistent value. Reporting was fragmented—about 700 disparate Brio reports that were static and inconsistently defined—so managers lacked timely, standardized insight into store performance and operations.

Sligro selected Information Builders’ WebFOCUS for its AS/400 compatibility and flexibility and deployed a centralized Management Information 2.0 portal. By standardizing data definitions and consolidating reports (reducing ~700 Brio reports to roughly 100 WebFOCUS reports), the company gained consistent, role-based access to sales, logistics and financial metrics, improved decision-making and store benchmarking, and created a platform for targeted merchandising and marketing.
