WebFOCUS Extends Legacy Reports While Enhancing New ERP System

Saint Louis University (SLU), a large multi-campus institution with more than 11,000 students and 300 departments, needed to migrate its administrative systems from legacy SCT/Plus on OpenVMS to the SCT Banner ERP without disrupting users’ familiar reporting workflows. The challenge was to preserve access to existing reports, isolate end-user reporting from the back-end ERP during the changeover, and provide desktop access to information for a wide range of administrative and academic functions.

SLU deployed Information Builders' WebFOCUS as a web-based front end to extend legacy FOCUS reports, give users instant browser access, and lay the groundwork for executive dashboards. The rollout required minimal training, produced zero downtime, eliminated paper reporting (saving more than $100,000 annually), freed IT from fielding routine report requests, and improved productivity and decision-making across the university.
