University of Fraser Valley Fosters Institutional Intelligence and Improves Decision-Making

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), a public university serving about 16,000 students across seven campuses, faced a time-consuming, error-prone process of pulling student and academic data from disparate relational databases and a Banner ERP system. Institutional researchers relied on multiple Microsoft Access queries and Excel spreadsheets that didn’t scale, making consolidated reporting on enrollment, programs, international students, and other metrics slow and difficult.

UFV implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI platform with iWay DataMigrator, a consolidated data warehouse and nightly ETL, plus Professional Services/QuickStart support to build interactive Academic and International dashboards. The new self‑service environment replaced Access workflows with reusable WebFOCUS reports, cut report generation from weeks or days to hours or minutes, improved data quality and anomaly detection, and broadened access so faculty and staff can make faster, evidence‑based decisions.
