Case Study: United Way Worldwide boosts global performance and targets relief for 61 million people with Information Builders' WebFOCUS

A Information Builders Case Study

Preview of the United Way Worldwide Case Study

United Way Launches Global Performance Management System

United Way Worldwide, the world’s largest privately funded nonprofit (2.8M volunteers, 10.3M donors, nearly $5B in annual contributions), needed a way for its 13,000 global staff and 1,800 local offices to understand which partners and programs performed best. Relying on tabular reports left affiliates unable to spot patterns, compare peers, or tailor services effectively across diverse communities.

United Way implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS and the PerformanceLink self‑service BI portal, giving users interactive dashboards, maps, scorecards and the Peer Finder map to drill from region to individual affiliate. The rapid rollout to 13,000 users improved peer learning and resource allocation, helped target services for the 61 million people served annually, and supported more effective relief distribution—including $54M raised and tens of millions in aid deployed after recent hurricanes.
