Facing razor-thin industry margins, Topco needed to lower product costs, grow private-label penetration and lift the average fill rate to 97.5 percent, but struggled with disparate systems, inconsistent master data and high data maintenance costs that slowed product development and decision-making.
Topco engaged Information Builders to standardize data and deliver a BI layer—implementing WebFOCUS, InfoAssist, Performance Management Framework and adapters—creating a sales data warehouse and the “TopFacts” dashboards as a single reference for key data elements. The initiative improved data quality and governance, produced current, consistent reports and dashboards for faster, more accurate decisions, reduced reliance on ad hoc tools, and set the organization up to extend BI access to suppliers and drive operational improvements.
