Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Overachieves With WebFOCUS

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), which oversees public higher education across Texas, needed to boost staff efficiency, improve monitoring of key metrics and milestones, and enhance communication with the public while migrating from a legacy mainframe to a server-based environment. THECB faced cumbersome manual reporting, limited external access to historical data, and a need for better visibility to support initiatives like “Closing the Gaps.”

Working with Information Builders, THECB deployed a WebFOCUS BI solution—including ReportCaster, InfoAssist, GIS integration and interactive dashboards—and built the PREP portal and internal reporting portals on an MS SQL Server data warehouse. The result: instant, self-service access to decades of data for staff and external stakeholders, near-real-time financial and operational reporting, reduced manual and printed reports, improved accountability and transparency, and empowered users to create reports without IT intervention.
