State of Oklahoma Addresses Federal Reporting Requirements With New Child Welfare Reporting System

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) needed to sort, summarize and present information on thousands of children so caseworkers could provide better family services and agency leaders could meet federal Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) mandates. Their legacy COBOL/mainframe reporting produced static, monthly hard-copy reports that were slow to filter or reformat and left field staff without timely performance insight.

OKDHS adopted Information Builders’ WebFOCUS, moved KIDS data to a modern platform, built FOCUS data marts and outcome-measure reports, and deployed a WebFOCUS dashboard plus staff training. The result is real-time, web-accessible reporting for more than 2,000 users, faster federal compliance reporting, drill‑down visibility from state to case level, improved caseworker decisions and measurable improvements in child-welfare outcomes.
