State of Louisiana Fights Fraud, Enhances Disaster Preparedness

Information Builders partnered with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)—a state agency of more than 4,500 staff serving ~1 million constituents—to streamline reporting and boost the efficiency of fraud detection, foster‑care placement, disaster recovery and other social‑service programs. DCFS faced fragmented systems and inconsistent data across programs, making investigations, benefits administration and emergency planning slow and resource‑intensive.

The agency deployed Information Builders’ WebFOCUS and iWay suite, created a master‑data CAFÉ front end, geocoded transactions into a data warehouse, and built the TINA‑BI analytical and map‑based reporting system. The result: faster, self‑service investigations and clearer fraud detection in SNAP and child‑care programs, improved foster‑care placement, automated disaster‑response reporting, a simplified IT structure, and a model solution adopted or studied by multiple other states.
