SMACL Assurances Launches Data Governance Initiative to Enhance Service Performance

SMACL Assurances, a French mutual insurer founded in 1974 with more than 600 employees, provides warranties and insurance to local authorities, associations and individuals. Confronted with redundant, erroneous and duplicate data across its systems — and the need to comply with Solvency II — the company launched a data governance program to improve data quality, regulatory reporting and overall service performance.

SMACL deployed Information Builders’ iWay Data Quality Server and iWay DataMigrator to profile, cleanse and control data with 13 predefined controls, dashboards and ETL-triggered checks. The solution centralized anomaly detection, provided audit logs and visualizations for data stewards, and delivered major productivity gains (duplicate-detection development dropped from 25 to 3 days and now runs four times faster), enabling organization-wide data accuracy, greater audit autonomy and the ability to meet and exceed Solvency II requirements.
