Quinte Health Care Identifies $10 Million Opportunity With WebFOCUS

Quinte Health Care (QHC) is a regional Ontario health system operating four hospitals that serve about 160,000 people. Facing a shift in government funding that required a $10 million cut to its operating budget, QHC needed faster, easier access to accurate analytics so clinicians and managers could pinpoint where costs could be reduced without harming care.

QHC rebuilt its data warehouse with iWay DataMigrator and deployed Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI portal, InfoAssist and ReportCaster to deliver KPIs, dashboards, alerts and benchmarking to more than 300 users. The analytics environment exposed cost and length-of-stay opportunities across hospitals, drove the adoption of best practices, enabled automated reporting and alerts, and helped the organization realize the $10 million savings while improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
