PSA Antwerp Boosts Management Efficiency With Business Intelligence

PSA Antwerp, a major terminal operator in the Port of Antwerp handling both roll-on/roll-off and break‑bulk cargo, needed timely, accurate visibility into every facet of its loading and unloading operations. Managers had to make rapid decisions about cargo mix, quay locations, labor allocation, permits and incident tracking to control costs, insurance exposure and docking charges while staying competitive with other European ports.

Information Builders’ WebFOCUS was used to extract data from PSA’s CTCS system on IBM AS/400 and deliver more than 300 web‑based, real‑time reports and ad‑hoc queries. The centralized reporting environment gave managers an up‑to‑date view of cargo status and operations, improving planning, labor coordination and incident management, which increased operational efficiency and profitability and can be scaled to on‑site terminals and expanded financial/HR reporting.
