Orange and Rockland Utilities, a Consolidated Edison subsidiary serving ~700,000 customers, needed faster, secure access to HR data for executives, fewer calls to HR, and improved tracking of electric meter tests to meet regulatory requirements. Their existing mainframe batch reports were slow, static, and required IT to produce ad-hoc queries.

Using Information Builders’ WebFOCUS, consultants built three self-service web applications—an executive HR reporting system, a secure employee calendar, and an automated Scheduled Electric Meter Test Report—integrated with mainframe DB2 and deployed on Windows servers in under four months.
